| How-To Plan for Maximum Safety & Damage Prevention in Your Parking Lot |
| - |
|
In several of our past newsletters, we discussed the many dangers found in parking facilities. It's important to understand and pin-point areas more susceptible to accidents in order to implement solutions that will prevent collisions before they occur.
Collisions on private property can not only be expensive to vehicle owners, but property owners as well. Certain areas in parking facilities should be well equipped with devices that will reduce vehicle speeds and protect the surrounding infrastructure from potential damage. Although every parking facility is unique in structure, there are various common 'danger zones' that exist.
Let's look at an in-depth example of how to plan for maximum safety and damage prevention in a parking lot:

These highly durable speed bumps will help slow vehicle speeds in parking facilities. They should be installed:
- In long stretches of straight roadway in a parking facility
- Near main intersections in a parking lot
- In front of a store's main entrance / exit area to slow vehicle speeds to a minimum allowing pedestrians to cross safely
- In entrance / exit points into the parking facility

This module device can be linked to cover the width of any roadway. The mini hump will slow vehicle speeds while allowing for a continuous traffic flow. They should be installed:
- Before pedestrian crossings on a busy roadway leading to parking facility
- On long stretches of straight roadway that necessitates a continuous traffic flow
- On access roads to the back of a building often used by transport trucks to drop-off / pick-up merchandise

These low-profile parking stops are highly visible with in-molded reflective highway tape. They are durable and flexible; molding to the contours of uneven road surfaces. They should be installed in every parking stall to:
- Prevent damage to surrounding infrastructure as well as other vehicles
- Prevent vehicles from cutting through / in-between lanes and parking stalls
- Ensure vehicles are aligned properly when parked
